Nice, quiet and safe neighborhoods with excellent public-school systems. Lorton falls under Fairfax county which is a really good school system. Good for kids, there are pubic parks available in almost every neighborhood. Elementary, middle and high school are all near the neighborhood. It is close to DC, 20-30 minutes of commute. The public bus facilities are not always available and is difficult to get around without having a personal transportation system. However, the metro and train station both are nearby, they can be alternative to not having a personal transportation. City centers and shopping centers are also 5-10 minutes in distance, everything is easily accessible.

Lorton is a hidden treasure of the DC Metro Area. Settled off of I-95, Lorton is also accessible from the Fairfax County Parkway, Route 123, and Route 1. There are four schools within Lorton's boundaries and lots of lovely neighborhoods. I've lived in Lorton for all my life and can't complain about much. Yes, we are lacking in a Chick-fil-a, but we have a Chipotle and Dunkin Donuts here! To some, it may be boring to say that there isn't a lot going on in Lorton, but it's nice to come home to a quiet town. There isn't a better town in Virginia than Lorton.
I moved to Lorton when I was 12 and stayed there until I graduated high school at 18 in 2017. I love Lorton with all of my heart but I guess I am kind of bias towards this area. I have always lived in the fairfax county area but Lorton (even though I have moved to Alexandria, VA) will always be home. I have all of my best friends out there and met some of the best people. I had a great high school experience and wouldn't change it for anything. Lorton is in the middle of a lot of things and so their is always something to do. Not to mention you are close t DC,Alexandria, Arlington, Shirlington, Springfield, etc....
