Long Valley is your average Rural-Esque small town. The public school system offers a highly regarded education. Each season offers its own unique beauty and town-wide traditions. As a Long Valley Native, I would say the town attracts an older crowd as the younger group finds entertainment elsewhere. However, Its biggest downfall is the lack of diversity and the worsening drug culture. Unfortunately, our lack of diversity has led to numerous difficult childhoods for minorities. Although there have been movements to diminish this issue, it seems that a significant amount of the population accepts it(which is enough said). Relating to the drug culture, Long Valley is like any other modern/conscious town that tries to suppress its drug epidemic for what it is. It's not uncommon for a citizen's own awful addiction story to be kept hush-hush to protect the reputation of the town. If you can ignore Long Valley's ignorance and privileged ways, then this town is for you!
Long valley is a great place to live, despite the influx of liberals looking to change everything that makes the town great. Long Valley has a great educational system. Long Valley is a drivable commute high salary employment in many NJ cities and towns. It's a long commute to NYC, but some people make that work. Long Valley sports and recreation are absolutely excellent. Our town is diverse in every respect that matters- socioeconomic status, opinion, deducational background, origin, political opinions, etc. There are less diverse skin colors that some other areas of New Jersey, but who really cares about skin color? Nearby Hackettstown has a blooming nightlife.
Some downsides are a high property tax burden, which is mostly due to our very excellent school teachers and administrators who are paid well. Another big downside is the influx of liberals from towns that they have already ruined with failed policy. We are still outvoting them for now.

I like the open parks, beautiful sights, and small towns. The parks are always clean, there is little to no pollution to be seen. The grass is never too tall and the bushes are always shaped. I also feel very safe because I see local residents and police that patrol the area. There are also some pretty sights to see, for example, the overlook at schooleys mountain park, an over view of the valley from the mountain. You can see the middle school and the church in town. To add to its view this area is framed by the trees surrounding the overlook. The mix of colors in the trees, rocks, and sky all make the scene really vibrant and lively. There are also trails, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Some trails go off to nearby lakes where you can hear bullfrogs and cicadas humming. Some people fish in these lakes as well. Lastly, there is the town at the bottom of schooleys mountain where some of the most well-known shops of long valley. Like the coffee potter and long valley bagel.
