I love our community! We have a little bit of a culture, mostly centered around our town flower, the lilac. We have a park called Lilacia Park and every year is the Lilac Parade, and each year has its own theme and a contest on which float is the best to represent the theme. Our local Dairy Queen is quite the hotspot when it’s open, even if the business isn’t that popular in most other places. Every year we also have a contest for teenage girls in the town to compete for who will be the Lilac Queen, and who the Lilac Princesses will be, which has been a tradition for over 100 years! I remember being very young and going to meet the Lilac Princesses because they were role models for us younger girls. In the summer, we also have weekly Cruise Nights in our little downtown where there is live music and good places to get food and hangout with friends and family!
I have lived in many towns before Lombard, but I have to admit Lombard is my favorite town of residency! I have lived here most of my childhood life and I grew up in the great schools, with wonderful neighbors, and the feeling of safety ness at all times. Lombard is a very family and cozy town. It is not too big and you always see someone you know at the local grocery store. While I wish I didn't have to say this, our downtown is not the best, but our community does make up for it by having cruise nights every Saturday night of the summer and art fairs!
Lombard is a very diverse town where you can find any kind of food, including many south Asian food options. There are also a lot of new developments in real estate, restaurants and also entertainment. I would say there isn’t much of a night life though. One of the best parts for students is that there are many private schools very near as well as a great community college in the neighboring town.
