Working in Lockport
Being born and raised in Lockport, NY, you see unique changes with time. The once booming city now has little to offer. While the economic downfall of the city has impacted the community in a negative light, with increased poverty and drug abusers, the city is weirdly friendly and warm for new families looking to get a slice of the country life. Lockport is an oxymoron that only the residents can describe as home.
I am raising my son here, and I have to praise the public schools. Excellent special programs for kid's who need extra help. Schools in New York State I have to say are far better than the south. I lived in Florida for a few years and when I started middle school in Tallahassee I had already started the year before when I attended Starpoint Central. No place in this country is perfect, Lockport has it's downsides but I like it. It's not to big or too small. It's a nice town to raise children. It has decent amount of store's and restaurants. And the cost of living is manageable.
Lockport is a nice old town close to Niagara Falls. It is filled with history, old buildings, and of course, its main attraction: the locks. Although the people in the city might seem a little hostile or scary, the general population is nice and helpful. I've spent my whole life here and I'd say its a pretty good one. There are a few things I don't like, like the fact that Lockport is small so it's hard to find certain things because we don't have certain stores. Overall though, the Lockport area is nice and the climate is right in the middle; cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
