Lockhart is a very quiet little town within a big city. Family friendly atmosphere and diverse town. I attended the local Elementary School, and the local Middle School. My Elementary School had a partnership with the towns Baptist Church across the street. This is a cozy little friendly town. The local corner store has the community feel to it. Customers feel safe pulling up to the store jumping out of the car leaving it running while shopping not worried about theft at all.
Kids ride their bikes to the store leave it outside with no concern of someone taking it. It has the home town feel.

Been here a year now, and haven't had issues. The neighborhood is very colorful - has character and isn't too loud. Have had crime-related incidences happen near my home but never felt unsafe.
I live in Lockhard, and it's one of those neighborhoods that isn't the best, but isn't the worst either. There are some parts that are charming about it, and then at other parts you don't always feel safe.
It's been a great place to call home while in my 20's and while my kids are young, but my wife and I will want to move out of this neighborhood as our kids start school, because the schools in this area are not very good at all.
