Lockhart is a small town with lots of personality. We have a town square with lots of different kinds of shops, and we are the barbecue capital of Texas. We have four barbecue restaurants here including Blacks Barbecue, Kreuz, Chisholm Trail, and Smitty’s. The historical Chisholm Trail route goes through Lockhart, and we have a parade to celebrate that fact every year. I have participated in the Chisholm Trail parade before and it was a delightful experience. My family has lived in this town for 17 years, and we have definitely loved living in this small town.

Lockhart is a small town and what I like about that is you get to know the people there easily. It has a beautiful courthouse and it is perfect for those who like quiet rural areas. Also, we have amazing barbecue! What i would like for Lockhart to have is a hospital and more clothing stores. From the side of town closest to Luling it takes about 45 minutes to get to a shopping center. This town is also a bit conservative and I wish it were more accepting of more liberal concepts.
What I like about Lockhart is that it is very peaceful. There is a public library, a dentist, a clinic, restaurants, public schools, a place to walk in the woods (which is safe for everyone), and many more things. But a change that I would like to happen, is more stores ( especially clothes stores ). But other than that, I love it! For me, I think as Lockhart as a place of nature.
