Nice area, easy commute (both public and private), cost of living is kind of high. The neighbors stare at you especially when you're new or of a different shade of complexion than they like or are use to. That part disgusts me. Not much to do for families/ kids.
I moved to Livermore with my family 5 years ago and couldn't be happier. It has a small town feel compared to other cities in the Bay Area which is what drew us to Livermore in the first place. We feel its the perfect place to raise a family and set roots. It has a very cute historic downtown that feels very welcoming with plenty of good restaurants, and you're minutes away from beautiful parks and trails if you want to just be out in nature. Also, if you're a wine enthusiast there are over 50 wineries in the Livermore Valley with stunning estates; perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and a beautiful view.
Livermore is a nice and relaxing place to live. There are grocery stores, fast food places, and restaurants close to where I live. The parks are amazing and there are some nice local trials. I live near downtown Livermore and it is such an amazing sight to see. There are many great restaurants with top notch food. The movie theater is so nice and the seats recline. At times it can get boring since I have been here for years. Other than that, it a nice and quiet city to live in.
I've been here 24 yrs. It has vastly improved over that time but is still kinda bleh. Outdoor life here can be fantastic: MTB terrain, hiking, nature preserve, huge cycling and running scene. But you can only get out in the "rainy reason" (when we get our 7-12 inches of rain--winter). The summers are hot and everything dies and turns brown for 7+ months. Town life isn't bad. Two Farmer's Markets, a thriving craft beer and winery scene, great coffee shops. There's a decent mix of restaurants but after several years you've eaten at all of them a million times. There's a weird mix of PhD scientists, cowboys, young professionals/families, seniors. Leans liberal but there's a vocal RED population. The schools are mediocre by Bay Area standards. They seem safe but not academically challenging and heavily focus on sports. Basically it's the kind of town where men wear tank tops and crocs to decent restaurants, and tons of moms still stay home, live through their kids and get fat.
Livermore is great. I love the people and the things to do all around our town. The downtown atmosphere is nice.
I love Livermore, there are always so many activities to do outside. Personally, I like to bike ride, hike, go on runs, and do many other outdoor activities and Livermore is a perfect city for me. We have so many biking/running trails, hiking trails, and parks.
Overall very good city. Family friendly, not a lot of crime. Recently named an “All American City”. There is a lot of open, public space and a robust wine country with 40 wineries.
Livermore has a booming downtown with great restaurants, 2 movie theaters, salons, and retail stores. The neighborhoods of Livermore are diverse, some in south Livermore are close to the vineyards, some sit atop a hill overlooking the city, and other neighborhoods have a large walking trail connecting the neighborhoods. A fun, family friendly city.
I have lived in Livermore my whole life and can say nothing but good things. People are very friendly and it has amazing places to hike and fish.
Livermore is a great city to raise young children. There is great options for a date night out, wineries, beer tasting, and a close enough drive to the city.
San Fransisco premium outlet (SFPO) has become an international tourist destination. It also influenced the whole surrounding area such as Pleasanton and Dublin. 3 shopping centers - SFPO, Shoppes at Livermore and Republican square are part of Livermore. Due to its influence, surrounding commercial/residential are keeping built-up. Kaiser Permanent in Dublin is also opened door earlier due to the
home-run growth in this 3 cities intersection area. The only problem is that, during weekend and holiday, it flux in too many people internationally, San Fransisco/San Jose metro locally, the parking becomes a very serious problem. A couple times, people try to get one available parking lot, there is a violent behavior. Outlet was also start charging parking to limit people come. Polices are always there to watch during weekend/Holidays. Even COVID-19 pandemic, it is so crowded with face mask on customers (outdoor is much safe than indoor). Del Valley is another attraction.

In the city of Livermore, there isn't a lot to do, however, there is a variety of people with which you can create relationships with. The schools in the Alameda County School Disrict are amazing for smaller families because each school takes their time to build a solid relationship with the family in which there is a student attending. Each student is guaranteed a safe environment and the best learning experience that the school can possibly give... As far as income, it may be difficult to afford housing in this area due to the city of Livermore being too close to the city. As for traffic, you may have to travel quite a distance in order to find a job that'll be suitable for you.
If you want your kid to be racist or do drugs this is the perfect area for them. The schools suck. The livermore pd suck and its so overpriced. Avoid livermore!
It was really great growing up here. A lot of people from different backgrounds come together. There isn't a whole lot to do but it's a safe place to grow up.
Great schools, great downtown, good night life, lots of hiking and nature, wine, food, family friendly, all around great!
Nice downtown, with a lot of shops, boutiques, and great places to eat. But it is very expensive to live there.
I've lived in Livermore for my entire life. I always thought of it as a small town with nothing special to offer. To me it seemed like a little bubble. After I moved down to Southern California I realized how much of a gem my hometown really was. I loved the small town vibe because you always see a friendly face at the store or wherever you go, a big city can be really intimidating. Livermore is also close to San Francisco, one of the coolest cities in the world. Although my town may lack diversity it's only a short drive from one of the most diverse and culturally flourishing cities. I never realized how perfectly located my home could be. In a single weekend you can make a trip to the beach, the snow, the lake, the mountains, or the dessert all within 3 hours of driving. I think it's the best of both worlds. It offers you the chance to go an explore the craziness of big cities but gives you a warm comfy place to come back home to.
