Litchfield Reviews
Rating 4.21 out of 5 14 reviews
The town is very quaint. It is very preserved to feel like nothing too much has changed to become more modern. The locals are very inclusive and are strongly community-based. They build off of each other and are willing to help each other for the sake of the town. I do wish that the town committee meetings and school committee meetings are more public than secluded. We just went through a very important moment as Wamogo and Litchfield High School are merging and a name was to be voted on. But they decided to have the vote be between the committee of the new school board than to include the people from the towns of Litchfield, Warren, Goshen, and Morris to also have a say. The town, while also being very preserved to stay as original as it can be, tends to have nothing much to do. I hope that in the future, the town can implement more fun and entertaining activities and businesses for families and kids so they are left with something to do with friends in town.
Litchfield is the quintessential New England town, historical buildings, great outdoors, thousands of acres of preservation areas with hikes and things to do all year from summer beaches to winter wonderlands for skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating. The generosity and kindness of the Community is intoxicating. The public school are excellent - it’s as close as you will ever get to a private school in a public setting. Great for raising a family or retirement.
Litchfield is a wonderful quintessential New England town. If you love the charm of a small town filled with great restaurants, many outdoor activities including swimming, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, biking etc. you will love it there. Close enough to NYC for day trips but far enough away to feel you've escaped to the country. #countrylife
