Smaller surrounding towns have vacant/abandoned property. The closest town (population 11,000, 15 minutes away) has less of a problem.
This area is ideal for raising a family. We are centrally located to larger cities/towns. Our community supports each other--we are like a large family. We all rally around each other for support, emotionally and financially. There is no other place I would rather call my "permanent residence".
We live in a rural area, so crime is low. Closest town is also small and there is not much crime, though there seems to be a bit of a drug problem in some areas of that town lately.
