An incredible place to raise a family. I didn’t want to move here from Princeton (also five stars). We wanted to go back to the city but made a stop here. So glad we did. It has the feeling of a Hallmark movie that doesn’t really leave. Sensible and helpful community, with amenities and great schools. People here aren’t political and tend to be down to earth and level headed. I must be getting old if this is something so value. Property taxes are very high but you get what you pay for here.
Lincroft is great, Middletown is horrible. I’m not sure how Lincroft got incorporated into Middletown, but they should have looked towards Holmdel, Shrewsbury or Colts Neck. Lincroft is a nice little village with great access to the major roads for commuting and close proximity to anything you could want. The school have been good historically, but overdevelopment has been causing class sizes to rise. They added about 900 bedrooms to town in 2019 and there are no plans for an addition to the elementary school. My wife’s family grew up here and from what I hear, modernization has really changed what was once a sleepy little town. Speeding is horrendous and the Middletown Police are almost never present. Over all, it isn’t a bad place to live, it just isn’t the place it is known for anymore, which is really sad.
I moved to Lincroft 20 years ago and put two children through the public school system. Small, attentive schools where everyone knows each other with strong school spirit. Extremely safe area. Type of neighborhood you could forget your wallet in your shopping cart and have it returned with money intact. Loved raising my kids here. Won’t leave.
