I live in the valley of the small town of Jersey Shore, Pa. I've always loved this area and will continue to love it throughout the oncoming years! I just moved into a house to rent right down the road from where I grew up. It is a rural area and one of the best things about it is everyone is friendly and I don't have to worry about crime in this area, compared to our neighboring city, Williamsport, Pa. I have a 8 month old daughter and I feel safe when it is just her and I at home. In school I was a cheerleader, and when we went to cheer camp, it was always fun to joke around and say we were from the "Jersey Shore." Everyone was always jealous! But I'm sure if city folk would visit, it would not be what they would expect. Rather than expecting a nice, sunny beach; they would find themselves surrounded by corn fields and a lot of amish. Compared to other places in the country, this area is nice, but doesn't have much activity. I would like to see more come to the area and hope it stays safe and friendly for my children to grow up in!
The housing in this area isn't bad, but isn't the best neither. Depending on what part of Jersey Shore you are in, you can have decent housing with normal costs of renting and utilities. If your are interested in that, you would be located in a more rural area. Then we have the town part of Jersey Shore, which living can be a little bit more expensive and not as clean. On problem with living around here, is we have very old houses, which mean led paint and also not updated electrical in the houses. I would suggest living in the more rural parts of the city.
The community in this area is very close. People tend to stay here and enjoy the area/community. There are many pets including many dogs and cats, but not excluding horses, cows, llamas, and chickens. Many of the events held in the area are fun and many people come out and support these events. We have a lot of truck and tractor pulls. Also, there are rodeos every once in awhile. It is a nice area and everyone seems to like it here.
