Lexington used to be a small, more farm-like community. In the past decade, it has exploded into a large suburb with more and more families moving down. Most people are very nice, making it a good place to work in customer service. There are some very good churches with very genuine and kind people that do a lot for the community, and there are some that sort of isolate themselves and put themselves on a pedestal. You just need to search for the right group of loving people!
I moved here from San Diego, California, and I enjoy living here. The people are very friendly, and I have the best neighbors ever! I moved here as a single mom, and I feel very safe. My advice to anyone moving here is to embrace the culture of a small town. Enjoy the local farmer’s markets, and local cute little cottage style restaurants, and you will enjoy it. If you want a Sprouts, go to Carrot 14. If you want to go to Costco, you will need to drive 20 minutes to Irmo. The traffic is a little crowded at times, but they are also growing rapidly. I think the entire area is dealing with rapid growth. I’m glad I moved here when I did.
Likes: I love how close-knit the community is as we are all united. They all help one another when in need, and are very close with one another. Another aspect is that there are many community and charity events. Lexington has the aging commission, which brings many children, adults, and parents out to come to enjoy their evening. Another aspect is the education, which is very good here at Lexington. Lexington brings many intellectual students from all backgrounds into school, and these students interact with one another contributing to the diversity.
Changes: Improve infrastructure such as renovating roads, bridges, etc. This will allow for increased and easier transportation. Another change I would like to see is some more public transportation. We could have more community buses, which would save money on gas and reduce air pollution. These buses would be beneficial for everyone as well as the community.
