Lewistown is a great little town! I grew up the majority of my life here. It is so great because there is lots to do in the town and the surrounding areas. You are only a few minutes away from fishing, hiking, and enjoying nature while still having the necessities such as a grocery store right in the town. I absolutely loved growing up there!

Having relocated to Central Montana from a large metropolitan area in Southern California, I was thrilled to find the people of Lewistown warm and welcoming. The vibe in Lewistown is simple: good people, hard work and a hometown to be proud of. It is understandable how folks looking at Lewistown could see just another small town in the heart of the Treasure State. But, I would encourage them to look deeper and they will find an abundance of year round outdoor activities and a rich, abundant history. Lewistown is worth a visit and who knows? Maybe you'll find your new hometown, too.
Lewistown is a small rural community in the middle of nowhere. It is surrounded by beautiful wilderness ranging from small island mountain ranges with dense pine forests, to high steppe semi arid plains covered in sagebrush. The outdoors are teeming with an abundance of wildlife and unlimited recreational opportunities. The local economy is based primarily on agriculture, from cattle ranches to wheat farms. The small town is roughly 5000 residence, but is well over 100 miles from the next largest town.
