When I first moved to Levittown, in 1989 after having 2 children in NYC, I found Levittown to be very insular however the schools were safe, my daughters had a big yard , they played with kids on the block and we had access to many activities . My oldest was into Horseback riding, which is much more affordable here, and my other daughters involved in sports, which is also readily available. After living here for almost 30 yrs. I have seen how Levittown has changed for the better! It has become alot more diverse, young people are moving in , it has become more Democrat. Levittown is a 5 minute drive to the Hicksville Train station, which is the most reliable LIRR line my husband has been commuting into the city since we have been here. It takes him 40-45 minutes, and they are building the 3rd track and the East Side Access which goes right into Grand Central. It mystifies me as to why Levittown hasn't become more popular. Barb
A typical LI suburb with easy access to whatever you may need. Easy access to the city by either highways or train (Hicksville or Wantagh depending on which you are closer to). It has a history of being a very white, conservative town but over the years it has grown more diverse. Everyone I have met so far has been friendly and helpful. We pay a lot in school taxes but we have one of the best schools in the state. Unfortunately you need a car to really get around and enjoy the shops and parks, which is typical in a US suburb.
Levittown is a quaint, spacious neighborhood. The greenery and view are quite relaxing. It's hard to have fun there unless you can drive or travel distances. Usually, malls, chain stores, local stores, movies, and restaurants are the main places to go to have fun. Be aware that Levittown leans towards the conservative side in that there are many Trump supporters. But at the same time, people there tend to seem open-minded and liberal, especially in academic environments.
