Lemont is a fantastic place to live. The charm & views are a unique combination that I haven't seen anywhere else in Illinois. It has beautiful homes (old and new), historical allure, and a growing number of restaurants/shops that make its downtown even more appealing. As an 'outsider' who moved here 4 years ago, I feel like part of this town. I run into people I know all the time, the shop owners often call me by name. Whether I'm enjoying an evening on the patio overlooking the canal at one of the best breweries around (I'm looking at you Pollyanna Brewing Co) or watching my kids playing sports through 2 great youth rec organizations (Lemont Park District and Naz Rec) or just walking around the charming downtown, there is always something to do. If you can't find exactly what you need, you are 10 minutes from the shopping in neighboring suburbs!
Lemont has great small town charm within an arms reach of a fantastic metropolitan area. There are wonderful people, terrific restaurants, just secluded enough to feel like you are somewhere small and quaint. Many movies have filmed here, and the education system is top notch.
The town is tiny. It is a safe, small town where kids grow up fast and the older folks stay around forever. The schools have great programs for children from all walks of life. K-12 schools have great programs for children that need extra help and 9-12 has AP and honors programs that allow students to exceed their own expectations. The nightlife is very dim and seen only in small pubs or chain restaurants. There are gyms and yoga studios that allow people to stay active and the hills give runners more of a workout. It is a place to get speeding tickets because the speed limit is constantly 25-35, but this is because of the amount of schools and parks seen throughout the town. There is a park in every neighborhood and about 6 schools throughout town. It is a great place for children to grow up, a restless place for teenagers, and a perfectly sleepy place for people that need a break.
