As a resident of League City, I love the atmosphere of our small suburban city. I always see new small businesses being established around the area which shows the great opportunities that living here can bring! The people residing here are very welcoming people, who take care of their community, and the people in it. Another commending part of League City is the schooling, where education is held to a high standard amongst students and teachers alike. The only necessary change that I think to establish is more diversity of the people here. I couldn't think of a better location to situate with family!
League City is a family friendly suburb of Houston. League City offers events for the community such as food drives, fun races, summer activities and local sports. Libraries offer opportunities for people of all ages to get involved. They have reading time for little ones, teen clubs, homework help, and even offer English as a second language classes for those who need a little help getting comfortable with the language. There are several parks which have access to sports fields (baseball, little league, soccer, basketball and volleyball), boating, and playgrounds. The parks are all kept very clean and have paved trails for walking, running, or biking. There is plenty of opportunity to stay active and healthy in League City. The schools offer many extracurricular activities for middle schoolers and high schoolers and all students also have access to a laptop from the school, which gives them an opportunity to excel without worrying about electronic expenses.
Schools and shopping close, but traffic starting to increase rapidly. Pop already at 107 thousand and expected to increase another 100 thousand within the next 8-10 years; infrastructure cannot keep up with these numbers. Schools outgrowing what they can hold, construction everywhere and has been for at least five years now and no end in sight. The entire area floods if little bit of rain and of course a Hurricane. Home prices high and you have to carry Wind insurance; possibly Flood ins (new flood map being drawn). Very very hot and humid place to live. Not recommended if not used to this type of weather. Up side: Restaurants galore, perfectly located from Houston, Galveston, and any direction 2 hrs out you have a perfect getaway. Police are very responsive. People are friendly. No state tax.
