I wouldn't say it is the safest place in the world, but you can count on not being scared to leave your house or walk around at night. There are loud people, and drunk people, and lots of crazy teenagers around. But I've never seen tensions get high to the point of people being in actual physical danger. Late at night you can see police cars driving through the neighborhood, but not as much during the day.
It definitely is a lot better than where I used to live. I feel a lot more free and am able to do anything such as take walks, sit outside and much more.
They are building new stores which means new jobs.
