Lawrence is an incredible town filled with tons to do! Mass Street is a huge hit, because it's filled with tons of different stores filled with clothes, sporting goods, memorabilia, pet supplies, toy stores, and much more! There's movie theaters, concert halls, plenty of recreational centers, shopping centers, and restaurants! It is a extremely diverse town filled with people from all walks of life. Kansas University and Haskell University are two local colleges with amazing professors and opportunities! Our college basketball team, the Kansas Jayhawks, are pretty awesome to watch!
The city of Lawrence is a great town for all college students and citizens who like to rally. From the Kansas basketball games with the loudest student section possible, to the Chiefs and Royals games we all watch together, Lawrence is a great place to celebrate. Not only do we celebrate the sports teams here, but we also entertain liberal views in order to make everyone in this city feel welcome. If you are looking for a great place to live with lots of young college students to keep you alive, move to Lawrence!
I have lived in Lawrence, KS from birth till now (age 22), and my favorite part about the town is the feel of it. When I drive around other parts of Kansas, everything seems so flat and spread out and underdeveloped, yet Lawrence is a highly thriving, evolving, well-kept town that looks to keep its charm while keeping up with the times. Most known for it's historic downtown area, it is also the home to the KU Jayhawks which draws in a big college crowd, many of whom choose to settle and never leave. As a more conservative person, it is a bit of a challenge to feel appreciated or respected in a highly liberal town, but it's also just one of the quirks about Lawrence--being one of the only liberal towns in a conservative state. The housing market is pretty pricey, seeing as you're paying more to snag a piece of land than the actual house itself, but once you're here you will love it. I haven't left yet!
