Laurel is a small town with lots of diversity. It has such a close-knit community, and no matter where you go, you'll always find someone to talk to. Laurel is a very proud town, with great sports teams, especially football. There are dozens of small businesses which get a lot of support from the whole town. There are many community events such as church outreaches, holiday celebrations, weekly flea markets, etc. As the years have passed, the quality of the town has only improved, with much better school facilities and improvements in public parks and in the community.
Laurel is an amiable town. Many of the residents are acquainted with each other. The schools need to improve with the better discipline of the students. Many of the teachers seem to care a lot for their students. The crime rate is lower than in neighboring towns. The churches are friendly, and many of them hold different events involving those in the community. The fourth of July program and fireworks draw many people from out of town and in the city. The historical society buys many properties to keep the history of Laurel. The library is an excellent place to go and provides numerous events for the public. The library staff is excellent, friendly, and very knowledgeable about any information that one may need.
Laurel is a small quiet town. Certain areas are better than others but it has Trap Pond state park which is absolutely beautiful. I highly suggest visiting there and Laurel pizzeria! Very cute small restaurant and it has amazing food their too. Overall this is one of my favorite places to live. I really enjoy the area
