Despite Lathrop being a little town in the middle of nowhere, I love it here. It is very peaceful, for the most part, and the environment is welcoming. I go to Lathrop High School and that school is full of diversity and spirit. I have lived here ever since 2007, and I honestly cannot see myself living in Santa Barbara, which was where I was born, anymore. I went from bustling city to quiet town and I do not mind the switch. I do, however, would like to see more commercial stores and entertainment nearby. We have a Target and that is pretty much it. And since Manteca is a good five to ten minutes away, still, what they have does not count towards what we have!

Lathrop was platted when the railroad was extended to that point.[10] A post office has been in operation at Lathrop since 1871.[11] The city was named for the maiden name of the wife of Leland Stanford.[10] In September 1869, four months after the railheads of the transcontinental railroad met at Promontory, Utah, the completion of the San Joaquin River Bridge at Mossdale crossing at Lathrop actually completed the west coast link.
Although Lathrop is a very small town it has everything you need. It has a Target and to most people, that is a very big deal. Who doesn't love Target? It has a mountain mikes and Mikasa. Sushi and pizza is everything. Lathrop has a great community and it's just a very beautiful little town. It has beautiful homes and beautiful parks! I'd hope to just see it expand and grow a little more because it is, a very small town.
