It's a city that seems small and quiet. The essentials of care in garbage pickup...snow removal...and street cleaning get done. Despite the lower housing costs the buildings are very run down. 16% are now rentals and landlords are all outsiders. A high population of illegals also renting and the properties look in decay. It's pretty bad. So many need to be demolished and the city doesn't have the money.
High traffic with a lot of speeding that goes unchecked by the police department. A ferral cat problem. No animal control officers in La Salle. Stray dogs are an issue too with a recent attack that is needing a city ordinance enforcement.
Heroin is at an increase being sold and used here . La Salle is old and needs a major boost .
Small rural city that has poor schools and housing.

LaSalle is a great place for people to live. Whether it be neighbors, friends, or family, they are very diverse, as LaSalle is a close-knit community, where everyone knows everyone. If you want a place where you can rely on the safety and friendliness of the community, choose LaSalle!
I loved La Salle it was small enough not be too busy with traffic but it had everything. With other small towns nearby like Oglesby, Peru, Utica; I had an amazing yoga studio (tanayoga), the best cafe's (fourth street bakery), many local pubs with entertainment, a winery club, a state park, camping areas, and a great community. I would move back in a heartbeat if I could make more doing what I love (massage therapy).
