I like that Lansing is a pretty good area, but I feel that the municipality’s are racist. I have been staying in Lansing for about 10 years.
I feel that the police patrol our building a lot giving all type of citations. The building is predominantly African American. I do not see them bothering the white people, who have homes. A lot of the cars have expired vehicle registration and parked illegally.
I rcvd, multiple tickets, stating that I was illegally parked and I have been parking in the same area for years.
And then I have to go to court, and the ticket is dismissed.
When, I go to court, about 90-95% of the people in there are African American . The staff at the municipality is so rude and they talk to us like we are not the ones paying for them to work.
How sad , we have to pay taxes and still pay the racist municipality when they racially profile us
My car and a lot of cars have been broken into. They have failed to solve the cases! Which cause further financial burdens

I stayed in Lansing for 5 years. Lansing, IL is still very much racist. The communities are divided by color. The African Americans stay on one side of Ridge Rd. And the Caucasians stay on the other side of Ridge Rd. Of course you have some Caucasians who did not (or could not) leave at the first sight of an African American family. Lansing does have an airport, Enterprise car rental, Walmart, LA Fitness and a host of things to do and places to eat. Hopefully, you enjoy pizza, it has around 5 or 6 pizza restaurants! That would be the only positive about this town. All of the liquor stores in the community are owned by the same racist people. Crime in Lansing was above average. Domestic violence, car break-ins, vandalism, assault, robberies, shootings, car thefts, you name it! The Egg plant on Bernice Rd was hiring recently but that is about the only work you will find in Lansing. And this has been my honest review of Lansing, IL on 11/08/2018.
Lansing has an amicable atmosphere and everyone for the most part is friendly. We support each other and overall we have a nice safe community. The schools around here give us the necessary tools to move on into adulthood. Very rarely does anything criminal happen. Neighbors leave their doors open, kids play in the streets, and people walk their pets at night. Whenever I go to the park I see happy families. Lansing has unity which I've seen when the protests started. People follow the rules and stay in their houses because of the virus. I feel at peace in Lansing. The only thing that I would change is to increase funding to the schools programs since some clubs suffer because of financial problems. That or more sidewalks and pothole covers but that is because I am a serious bike rider. My parents picked Lansing because they knew that the people and the location were out of the city and therefore safer for us kids to flourish in without many worries or troubles. I am glad to live here.
