Land O' Lakes is a small town, but there is plenty to do! It's growing rapidly, from people to businesses. Lots of necessities are local (eg. Publix and Wal-Mart). There is a fair amount of traffic because State Road 54 cuts right through the middle of here and we're relatively close to Tampa, so there's lots of major roads. Still, there's plenty of family-owned restaurants and small businesses in the area. Land O' Lakes isn't really a place to visit, but it's a good place to live. The local schools are pretty average, but typically have A and B ratings. The accessibility of Tampa can be a perk: the airport isn't super far away, and you can attend professional sports games (eg. football, baseball, hockey, soccer). We're not in the middle of nowhere, so you never run out of things to do on the weekend. As far as employment, there are a lot of places to work. Some more specific careers may require traveling to nearby cities, but nothing is very far away.

I fell in love with Land O' Lakes and loved that it was so close to Tampa, but just far enough away to have some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, this caught on quickly and the area became filled with people and continues to develop very quickly, this is why I only gave it 4 stars. Although I still love the area I do hope it doesn't end up turning into another Tampa, filled with too many people and lots of traffic, since that was the whole reason we moved here was to get away from all that! All in all, it's a safe place to live!
My family and I have lived in Land O Lakes for one year now. We are renting in a neighborhood near the Veteran's Expressway and Hwy 54. We have found the city to be extremely family friendly with plenty of parks and recreation activities scheduled every weekend. Traffic is manageable and the commute to Tampa via the Veteran's Expressway is extremely convenient. The city is majority Caucasian with no real nightlife activities except hole-in-the-wall bars. Most citizens commute to Tampa or St Petersburg for employment, however, there are many new businesses opening up along the Hwy 54 corridor. After renting for another year, we will be building a home in the same area because we love living here!
