The city of Lakewood, CA is a suburb of Los Angeles. I've lived in a part of the city called Lakewood Gardens for over 30 years and have enjoyed the neighborhood. It's a small and quiet area, and it's close enough to other cities like Long Beach, Cerritos, and Bellflower. Lakewood (and the cities that surround it) offer shopping, many restaurants, a variety of educational institutions (both public and private), and several parks for outdoor activities.
The city of Lakewood is ethnically diverse with 47.6% White, 19.01% Asian, 13.93% Other races, and 9.67% of two or more races. The city is small enough that it is part of a school district that includes two other cities.
Although there are many parks for activities on the grass for people and pets, there could be more spaces for bike-riding that are safely enclosed as compared to the streets. As it is, several residential streets are okay for bike-riding for adults, but a safer area is needed for children.

I have enjoyed growing up in Lakewood. The area has always felt safe with enjoyable activities for all ages. The street I grew up on had a wide range of ages and diverse families. It is a small city but surrounded with other things to do in nearby cities as well. Grew up going to concerts in the park, enjoying the beach a few miles away, driving to nearby movie theaters and bowling alleys. Another great feature that still draws in tons of people to celebrate are the 4th of July parties that some streets get to host. As the next generation look to buy homes for themselves or their young families, it looks like Lakewood will once again be a beautiful and nice area to grow up in.
Lakewood is a small, but peaceful city. It is a friendly neighborhood filled with various parks and recreational activities all season long. What I love about Lakewood is its family-friendly environment, convenience to nearby locations, and the annual events that take place. One of my favorite events that I look forward to is the Lakewood Summer Block Party, which takes place the last Saturday of June. During this event, there are food booths of different flavored foods from different restaurants around the city that can be purchased at low cost. There is also a band that plays for entertainment. The highlight of the event is the fireworks show in the evening. Another event that I enjoy is the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall in early September. I love how the residents come together to enjoy the lights and socialize with one another during this event to start the holiday season. Lakewood is a city that will continue to thrive and grow as a community in the futur
