Lakeway is great! There are a lot of things to do, like going on the lake, eating at good restaurants, and hiking. It is not far from downtown Austin and it is not in the middle of nowhere. The schools are very good.
Lakeway is a safe, family friendly community with beautiful scenery and a great location and public schools.
I have an amazing experience with Lakeway. The people are super nice and I have met a numerous amount of genuine, kind, souls. I have worked in the area for over a year and fell in love with it from a far. I moved there at the beginning of this year and have had a grand time ever since.
This place is a joke. Some of the "bad" reviews are a bit extreme/case by case, but not completely wrong. I have lived in Los Angeles, New York, & New Jersey, but none have frustrated me more than the spoiled town of Lakeway. There is a very real sense of entitlement here to the point where people act/say whatever they want. I have been threatened, subjected to road rage, almost hit by a car walking my dog (no sidewalks btw), & just made to feel like I don't belong. It is very inclusive. It's almost laughable that there is a gated community inside this bubble. Those people are the most out of touch imo. People are afraid of anyone who doesn't fit in. Racism isn't a huge problem (externally), but if you are colored you WILL get pulled over more than the majority. Seems the PD has more diversity these days, so blame the Karens who call it in. I will say I spent many happy days of my childhood here, but thank god I did not live here than. If your rich and complacent, you found home
The town while it can have some very uptight and rude people the plant life and lake are beautiful along with a few very kind souls.
It's a nice area with great places to eat, parks, and events. Really expensive though and lacks diversity.
It is very pretty and very well kept. A lot of elite families live there. Due to the stigma around it only the wealthy can afford to live there.
Lakeway is a family friendly area with a lot to offer. Lake Travis gives you lake living and the hill country is beautiful!
Lakeway is an amazing place to live! It has shopping, walking paths, family activities, an awsome library and thoughtful people. The only thing I would change is lower the cost of living.
Pretentious. Look up statistics, unless you're rich and white you will not fit in and they will make you feel it. I'm white and my family was poor my entire childhood here and ooooooooh did the community make me feel it. Children are spoiled, huge drug problem in schools starting in middle school, cops go unchecked and again do not care about your safety unless you are of the rich and white persuasion. If you're under the age of 40 just prepare to be pulled over and searched on a regular basis. The place is pretty, I'll give it that but don't let that blind you to the underlying issues this community has.
Lived here many years. It’s a great place. The lake is a vacation all year. The schools are excellent. And the Churches are inviting
Lakeway is the best place to grow up/raise a family! It offers countless opportunities to explore the outdoors while also enjoying the young city life. This suburb does a great job about catering to all ages. Not to mention, the schools are fantastic! After growing up in Lakeway, I can not wait to bring back my own family some day to this area. The homes are on the more expensive side, but considering the views and the community it is well worth it.
Lakeway is located in the Texas Hill country. The Canyonlands hiking/biking trails, Hamilton Green belt, Balconies Preserve, Hamilton Pool, Kruse Springs, Lake Travis. They are all here. Instead of cookie cutter suburban tracts, you have unique custom home on larger lots, tucked in along the roads that wind around the lake. Lots of parks, recreation centers, swim, tennis, golf and spa resorts. It even has its own small airport. It has the second top rated school district in the Austin metro area. Traffic in all of Austin is bad, so any traffic you will experience here isn’t any more or less noteworthy. Lakeway offers a reasonably timely, picturesque commute into Austin. There is a Whole Foods, Randall’s, and two HEBs. There is a outdoor mall nearby. There is a large indoor gaming/bowling alley and a kids play gym. Instead of the strip malls you’ll see in the suburbs, Lakeway has nurtured unique small business, multiple coffee shops and cafes, boutiques and the arts.
I've lived here for eight years now. When I first moved here it was a good suburban area. Now it's changing dramatically. More and more people are moving here. It now takes me 30-45 minutes to get home to my house that should be a 10 min ride. There is only one high school in this whole area which is ridiculous. There is a lot of old people here which I don't understand? Why would you want to retire in a town for young families? Also, there is not much to do here activity/fun wise. There is one mall that is filled with boutiques no one has ever heard of and are too expensive. This used to be a nice town that had potential, but now I don't see it.
It’s a beautiful area. It’s a great family friendly environment. I love Texas! I just wish they would have public transportation. That would make things much easier.
Lakeway is a busy, happy suburb with lots to do and very low crime rates. You could hang out at the local bowling arena and arcade, High 5, or you could go out on the lake and enjoy a day of fun in the sun. Lakeway is the perfect place for those who enjoy being close to a city, but without the noise and crime.
Great suburb. Not too far away to enjoy everything Austin has to offer, Lakeway also has some great places nearby that really give the place its own awesome vibe.
