Working in Lakeside
Not the best, not the worst. Right smack in the middle. It is a smaller area of San Diego, with Lakes, Parks, Hiking Trails, Horse Ranches, and a small town vibe. Rough around the edges feel. Quite a few local gyms, fast food, and an Albertsons and Walmart within driving range. I cannot comment on the schools as I am unmarried and have no children. Summer weather is brutally hot, summer is the worst time of the year at about 95 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit at its peaks from about June through October. A couple of bars and few higher end restaurants round out the area.
I've lived in Lakeside for the last couple of years, and my grandparents have lived here for decades, but it has always been a generally nice and comfortable place to call home. There's not much nightlife, and the opportunity for obtaining some sort of employment is pretty low as far as I'm concerned, yet everything else about the county makes it an enjoyable place to live.
Lakeside is nice because it has some very beautiful scenery and can feel like you live in the middle of nowhere, but you’re only 20/25min from the beach and 45 min from the mountains. It’s a little bit of southern living but in the middle of beautiful San Diego.
