Lake Orion is best described as a small town with a large community. This is a mostly quiet town with a tightly knit community of residents. This is a perfect area to settle down in and enjoy the lake life with family.
I just moved to Lake Orion, and the place is very different from the rest of the Detroit Metropolitan area. There is a large availability of everything and the area is predominately Caucasian. Some areas would make minorities like myself feel uneasy.
Lake Orion is a wonderful city. What makes Lake Orion wonderful, is the beautiful downtown with a diverse array of restaurants and shops. The lake near downtown Lake Orion is a great place to have a good time in the summer.
I love the school district, the local events, the local parks, the fire department. I would like to see a more diverse population, a more open-minded community, and more Democratic representation in local government.
Lake Orion is a great and safe city to live in. Although the winters can be tough, neighboring cities always have something to do.
I have lived in Lake Orion for almost 13 years and i have thoroughly enjoyed it. I grew up there and loved the experience i gained being on the Lake. Everyone is always friendly and making new friends on the daily.
Lake Orion is a good place to live with multitudes of events and activities to participate in. All throughout the year, there’s different opportunities for the community to gather and be together. In the summer, the people of Lake Orion enjoy cruising around on the lake and gathering on Flint Street for the annual flower festival. Year-round, community members can be found together at the Orion Art Center learning how to draw, open mic night downtown, or at Sagebrush Cantina, everyone’s favorite Mexican joint. They have amazing local restaurants downtown including 313 pizza, Anita’s Kitchen, and A Bean to Go. Nearby are multiple beautiful lakes, Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall, and Top Golf. There is a lot to get involved in in Lake Orion, so it’s up to you what your experience is.
I was born and raised in the Lake Orion/Oxford area. It's always been a safe town. It's a great place to raise a family!
Lake Orion is the perfect mix of downtown amenities and rural living. There are plenty of trails for people who are fond of hiking, running, biking. You can't go 10 miles without seeing a lake somewhere. The nature views are incredible here. The people here are very kind and selfless, and are always ready to rally around their community when needed. I loved growing up here, and recommend this for any new families looking for a place to live.
Lake Orion is an excelent place in all seasons. We have multiple festivities throughout the year - most notably our Dragon On The Lake festival, which celebrates the rich history of our village. Downtown Lake Orion is a comfortable stroll down pleasant walkways and past bustling shops. We have top competitors in sports and the arts, with our varsity vollyball team currently in the running for a state championship and our marching band placing second at state finals.
what I like about Lake Orion is that it is a very central location. From being and hour from Detroit and being close to the Great Lakes crossing mall, our small quite town has access to many great things.
Great Community with lots of Lakes, boating and water sports. Several small restaurants and bars. housing is either very expensive on the water or very cheap old cabins on the water.
Growing up in Lake Orion, I may have a bias, however I strongly believe this town is simply beautiful. From Lake Orion lake itself, to bald mountain recreational parks and everything in between, the nature stuns. I love being outdoors here, and everyone really tries to be friendly with one another and looks out for each other. Of course, this is more of a suburb area, but you are at a perfect distance from major bustling cities such as Royal Oak, Troy, and even Detroit. Yet, the rural areas are just a step away as well. There really is something for everyone, and I have such enormous pride in being from this city.
Lake Orion has been the only place I have known the past 18 years of my life. Born and raised, I wouldn't want it any other way. My friends and family are all here and both of those groups are continuing to grow all the time. I love the warm feeling you get in this community and the number of genuinely kind people that are here. There is always a helping hand around the corner, I believe that growing up in such a small little area has made me into the person I am. Lake Orion has taught me love, hate, hardship, success, and many many more important life skills, but most of all it has shown me what home is like.
I love it, there is so much to do, they have an amazing high school. The community is very friendly and there is so much do. For example you go shopping, see a movie, putt-putt, and a bunch of family friendly parks.
Lake orion is known to be the city where "living is a vacation" and as a current resident of this town, I can say that my time living here has been a dream. The people in this city are always looking out for each other and the community. I am glad to have lived here for almost a decade and have had a great experience the entire time here.
It's a small town with a lot of people. There are some nice, unique places and it is great for families.
