We moved here from upstate New York because of the better real estate values. The lot and house are nice but the taxes and very high water bills were a real shocker. Fortunately we don't have children as our neighbors (3) have repeatedly warned us about how mismanaged the local public schools are. They now homeschool and/or have enrolled their children in local private schools. It's not the bargain we envisioned. We should have done a little more homework. We would not do it again if we had the opportunity.

Lake Monticello is a good place to live. Beautiful scenery and lake. Different types of homes, along with different prices to not so high to very high. Needs more diversity.
I have lived in Lake Monticello my entire life, and I have always loved it. Although I do have to drive half an hour to get to school every morning, as a child, I enjoyed having a pool, beach, and park within walking distance from my house. You really can't beat that.
