This town is often described as paradise. And while it is beautiful, it does not provide very many experiences. The people who reside here are often bitter, but you do meet some pretty nice, cool people. It’s a very expensive place to live in despite the fact that there isn’t much to do here except go out on the lake. The lake really is a beautiful sight though. Being such a small city, there isn’t a ton of job opportunities. We also have only one hospital which greatly over charges and they don’t have a very good track record with their patients. They’re careless and it’s scary to go there. There isn’t enough resources available to us! There also isn’t anywhere to shop. We have a small, outdoor mall that includes JCPenney, Walmart, and Dillard’s. There isn’t much entertainment and you get tired of the same old restaurants.

Read the reviews very carefully, look at the education level, crime rate, and school ratings very carefully. It takes a very specific type of person to thrive here. The majority of year round people are white, blue collar, conservative, with a narrow set of beliefs. Lots of ex-military, religious, republicans. Maybe it's COVID, but there is an angry vibe, lots of people revising to wear masks, not much support for BLM, lots of conspiracy theorists. You are 3-4 hours away from a major city with airports or attractions. The city is young (founded 1963) so not much history or culture. Attractions are manmade (lake) and imported (London Bridge). They are erecting a monument to Jet Skis (not joking). The lake culture is focused on drinking and boating. An average weekend includes a boating accident, at least one arrest, an assult or rape, and not infrequently a drowning. It's a desert. I would think very carefully before raising children here. For some, this is a great place, others not.
Lake Havasu City is the perfect medium between big city and small town. With the town being located on the lake, its the perfect place! Although it gets really hot in the summer, there are plenty of ways to cool down! A downside is that its far away from a lot of other big cities, so to do major shopping, you have to go a long ways.
