I have lived in LB for just over 10yrs. There is no better place to live. Train is walking distance, activities for kids and adults alike are competitive and super fun, beach is a bike ride away, nightlife is just right, schools are spectacular and the community is just right. So glad to it moved to a great area.
This is a great small hometown for anyone to live in. If you do not like the city, move here and you will feel right at home. I have lived here for the past 19 years and this town is my home. You have everything you need in this town and its neighboring town called Lake Forest. This town is also right next to Lake Michigan which is a beautiful lake. If you love the water, this lake is the greatest. Everyone in this town is super nice, helpful, and loving. You basically have someone always there for you if you need help with gardening, babysitters, and other resources like dog sitting.
I love our family beautiful friendly beach town on Lake Michigan!
Lake Bluff motto is “All are welcome here”.
Lots of activities for young, middle age and older people.
Great restaurants, Summer town block parties and town activities all year tound!

I'm currently a high school student who has lived in Lake Bluff for most of my life, in Sanctuary Lane. In my neighborhood there's a lot of greenery and a neighborhood playground that my friends and I used to go to every night over the summer. The air quality here is nice, and it's a safe place to be. Near where I live, about a 15 minute bike ride, is the area with some stores, Heinen's, Target, and some food places like Suzy Swirls. It's a good place to go for recreation with friends but my family usually drives down to Walmart or Sam's club about 15 minutes away for groceries. Honestly I have little reference point for Lake Bluff, but it's very chill here and I don't have any complaints.
Great place to live, friendly people, good schools, lots of greenery, crime is almost non existent. All of this and it’s on the shores of Lake Michigan. Residents live going down to the beach.
I have lived her for over 10+ years. Lake bluff is your cute, typical small town. It's about an hour away from the city (Chicago). The train station in town takes you straight there. You know all of your neighbors, and everyone is as friendly as can be!
It's a somewhat average town. Nothing to write home about. There are some nice places but mostly it's a generic north Chicago suburb dominated by middle-upper class families who have only moved here to start a family. If you like that thing then go ahead and come here but otherwise go somewhere else. You won't find any life-changing opportunities here.
It is a very safe place to live and their are many little shops. It is a tight community and very humble.
I have been living in Lake Bluff for the last 15-20 years. The schools are decent, There is a lot to do in the community, even though it is small. Majority of the people are decent.
Great community if you come from an affluent family, but if you don't it is challenging to be surrounded by such extreme wealth. This issues goes beyond Lake Bluff, it is apart of the whole North Shore.
There are lots of outdoor things to do though we do not have a lot of open fields. Most of our outdoor space is Open Lands. The lake gives us great access to water activities.
Our town has a great diversity in housing. The lots are smaller because the town was originally a summer camp and is right on Lake Michigan. Houses are all generally maintained and are beautifully presented.
very little crime happens- mostly theft. I feel very safe here.
We have a true 4 season year, though spring is usually very short. Our winters can be very harsh with lots of snow and COLD. Summers can be very hot with humidity. Overall the weather has its extremes.
Although there are plenty of high quality restaurants in my area, the variety is so-so and you get tired of the choices. We have terrible Asian food choices. Good Pizza places. And most of the others are either italian or american bistro style.
I would love to see some new interesting places open up.

For me- a soon to be high school graduate, finding a job that I like is a little more difficult, but that is only because I am not interested in working retail or in a restaurant. I have tried to work at the local library but there are no openings. I am interested in more of a behind-the-scenes type position.
Our area has a combination of locally owned and big company stores. We have a decent variety though some of the clothing stores that I like are not near the area (have to go to the city for them). But overall, we are able to get everything needed close by. We are getting new stores (Target) within the next few months.
