I've lived in Lafayette, IN since 2004. When I first came here it was a dream come true quiet, friendly, and economical. Since probably around 2016ish I feel it has gotten worse. The schools are just not caring as they used to. The bus system is a joke. There is truly no mental health reach out that will help nor homeless help that houses families. Drugs is a huge issue. Recently in 2022-2023 there are shootings bodies just showing up a lot. I wouldn't say "racist " but highly privilege white people live here. I feel like they all hide behind the "bible" but sin all the time. Then wanna throw stones. It's so fake here. This town has 1,000 restaurant &h items on 1 long street but won't build a homeless shelter. The crime rate has tripled . Our mayor is constantly doing photo ops instead of doing his job. We need leadership here. The good ole hun rooting tooting stuff is over ! How about the children that have died from the school shootings. We have to do better for the kids .
I love Lafayette, it has so many experiences here. Its also has Purdue here, so it makes it more diverse. Lafayette is a great town but I wish certain areas were bigger. I took one star off for that reason otherwise Lafayette is great!
I have lived here in Lafayette since 2008. For me, Lafayette has been a very good place to live. It is a suburban area, so commute times are around 20 minutes from one end of the town to the next. It is also comparatively safe. There have been only a couple major crimes while I have lived here, and very few whom I know have been a victim of any crime while in Lafayette. While it is no major city, there is still plenty of stuff to do for all ages, and there are many good-paying job opportunities. It is additionally a very affordable place to live, and the private education here is excellent.
