La Porte Reviews
In high school, some people called it a boring city, but it's better to call it a quiet city. In the right neighborhood, it can be a pretty nice and peaceful place, and look very nice in the different seasons. The schools expand and get better every year and the city itself continues to grow. La Porte High School is a great school with great teachers, and not to mention a good school spirit. The people in the city, I have found to be, generally friendly to most people, and willing to lend a hand if you need some help, and you don't have to worry about noisy neighbors (unless you choose to move into a particularly noisy apartment). There may not be many attractions to draw you away from some other cities, but it is still a nice place to visit.
LaPorte is a nice good small town. Everyone knows everyone. Bethel College made me feel like I was right at home! Most colleges have an atmosphere and community that tends be overwhelming; however, at Bethel I had no problem with communicating with the students and faculty. It's just such a beautiful school, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
La Porte is generally a small town, dwarfed in comparison by other nearby cities/towns in population. Yet it is usually a simple commute to travel to Chicago by train, relax at the nearby sandy dunes of Lake Michigan, and has an amazing collection of libraries that are interconnected for the sake of the every student that lives from La Porte out to Kingsbury.
