La Junta is a decent town. We got many different opportunities and programs available. The community is good. However, the town is becoming more crowded. I would like to see more expansion of the town.
I am a non-traditional student at Otero Junior College. La Junta is a great place to live, and Otero Junior College is an amazing school the professors and other students are very friendly being a first time college student at the age of forty six was very scary for me. I am a recovering addict and a survivor of domestic violence and rape. I had no confidence in myself and no confidence that i would even do well in school. La Junta is such a wonderful place it has been my new beginning and a place that I have been able to call home. I plan on staying in La Junta after I graduate and working in the elementary school here or somewhere close by.
I've lived in La Junta for the last 24 years and I think its a great place for a family. Small town, everyone knows each other and is super friendly. The schools in the area have invested in furthering all education and are offering more STEM courses and post secondary education to their students. There is a small theater downtown and a local bowling alley but other than that making your own fun is the way to go.
