It is a nice but growing town. I personally have some concerns regarding crime. First of all in 2018 there were 12 rapes and 24 stolen vehicles and 21 aggravated assaults. Given the small size of the town it seemed a bit much in terms of rapes. One rape is too many but 12 is very troubling. There were also 26 arrests and 110 citations for drug law violations for 2018. And recently an independent review of our fire department showed some very troubling issues in terms of lack of fire fighters and insufficient equipment. But overall it’s a growing town that I live in and like. I just think our current political leadership is more concerned with building town homes, condos. We need more police officers and fire fighters and soon! You can get more information regarding the Knightdale Police Department 2018 crime report and the Knightdale Fire Department “Brooks Innovative Solutions” report on line and/or the Town of Knightdale web page.

It’s a great town because of it’s close proximity to Raleigh and the highways that go through it. There however a lot of citations and arrests for drug violations. The 2018 police department annual report showed startling increases in rapes and aggravated assaults. The current elected town officials have allowed toooo many apartments to be built, thus creating the potential for a transient environment. We need more police, as well a recent audit found the fire department to be understaffed and lacking appropriate equipment.
I love Knightdale! It’s small yet accommodating for that family that wants a slower and quiet lifestyle. It’s in a prime location where you can easily jump on the belt line and get to neighboring larger cities within 30-45 mins. Low crimes, good schools, prime real estate are all great qualities to consider when moving to Knightdale.
