Kitty Hawk is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. The #1 attraction of course is the beach as it is part of the resort location known as the Outer Banks. However, Kitty Hawk is nearby to many historical and tourist attractions. Cost of living is very expensive in relation to income. Many jobs are tied to the resort industry. Year Round housing is scarce and expensive. The area is very family oriented with a low crime rate and good school system. Not much nightlife or things to do for the younger crowds, but lots of outdoor activities available. No public transportation, so a car is a must!

I've grown up in Kitty Hawk and lived here all my life. It is a beautiful place to visit, but even more beautiful to live in. The sunsets and sunrises are always so pretty and calming over the Atlantic. Kitty Hawk and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, in general, are great places to work, rest, live, play, and bring your family. Everyone knows each other, so everyone is very welcoming and nice. You cannot get lost on the Outer Banks, only in its beauty.
When it comes to little touristy beach towns, Kitty Hawk is one of the best. The lack of diversity is pretty clear, however. Plenty of good places to eat, and nice beaches make it popular for vacationers, so beware if you can't stand tourists. Kitty Hawk is a mostly crime free place that's very fit for someone to come to if they're looking to live a quiet and peaceful life on the beach. You are likely to get to know and befriend plenty of other locals.
