I enjoy living in Kinnickinnic, it is a rural township with the beautiful Kinni river flowing through it. I love to go fishing and have excellent access to participate in many outdoor activities. There is a school forest near me with walking trails, and many river access points for kayaking and fishing. All the people are friendly and always willing to stop by and have a conversation. Driving on the roads around home, everyone always waves and generally has a smile on their face. Kinnickinnic is a fairly non-urban environment still, however new people are moving in on some of the main roads. All are welcome and received with open arms by the neighbors.
Housing options in the area vary based on one's preference for living. There are many options based on country vs. town, condo/townhouse vs. full-scale home, etc. There are some vacant or abandoned properties, but nothing that distracts from the town's appeal or makes it seem creepy in any way. The better places to reside are basically anywhere that is not too close to the "college district," as some call it. Properties often are less well-kept and living there will ensure being woken up by parties when the university is in session!
The public services in River Falls are as good as one could expect from a smaller, more rural community. Interestingly enough, though, we have recently escalated from a rural crime classification to one that is much more urban in nature. It took some time for our local law enforcement to step up their game with regards to this, but they have done it with integrity and efficiency. Depending on how far out in the country one lives, reaction time of police/fire services may vary, but overall the response time is quick. Local laws are appropriate and fair. I am not as involved with local politics as others in town, but I do know that everyone feels strong about their opinions but is also willing to listen to varying opinions.
