Look Kingsville needs to be called out for what it is. It is a place you go only if you fit these categories: to attend an affordable college, run away from your past, retire, or it's all that you know as you were born and raised there. If you have a goal to become debt free and a timeline, this place is amazing to get it done. The cost of living is dirt cheap, but it shows. If you can stay focused on your goals, then and only then would I recommend Kingsville.
The town has so much potential, but the people are stuck in 1995. They are slow to everything, don't understand basic concepts (i.e using turning signals 100 feet before a turn, it's a brah-ma bull not a bray-ma bull, Kids are bored so there will be petty crime because the old Kingsville native men in office don't want to change the good ole boy community that they love, etc) and don't forget they drive with panic if it drizzles.
Again if you don't fit the categories I stated above, stay away.

Small town known for the famous King Ranch. Located 30 minutes from Corpus Christi. Not really known for the night-life but filled with outgoing friendly people. Cafeteria food is pretty good, a lot of choices to pick from. Chick fila, subway, pizza hut are located in the SUB. Many Mexican restaurants to pick from this small town. Great professors who are there to consult you and answer any questions you have. University police patrol 24/7. Relatively little to no violence. Many after school activities to pick from, including team sports and seasonal festivals for the family to have a great time! Downtown Kingsville does need renovation.
Kingsville is your average small town in Texas with many opportunities. Although the town is only a speck on the map, the opportunities associated with TAMUK and NAS Kingsville make the area thrive. If I could change anything about Kingsville, I would improve the education system. As a Kingsville resident and HM King Alumni, I know the KISD school system is falling behind other districts. I would find a way to drive teachers to improve work in the classroom so that every student can excel at standardized testing. These test are important to help students succeed after high school, therefor, I would implement a change in KISD to allow every student the best opportunity to succeed.
