Quiet/small town! I've lived in King City for 1 year and so far it's been good despite it's reputation. I commute alot to Paso Robles and Salinas to do my shopping (costco, target & Mall).

A fairly quiet town that is making great strides in cleaning up it's reputation as a gangland. Lots of new youth programs and projects to beautify the city. The open market every Wednesday and Friday is fantastic and generally has a little something for everyone. The nightlife and housing affordability could use some work, the former being rather lacking and the latter being ridiculous at times, although not as ridiculous as some other cities in the area.
Not much career opportunities. Lacking major companies with room for growth. Also, no major stores to buy necessities (such as Walmart or Target). Closest University is more than an hour away. Closest community college is also 45 minutes away. King City has a branch of Hartnell Community College here in town but it only offers very little variety in classes.
