I studied at Kent State University for my undergrad, and loved the area! I lived off-campus for 2 years and loved how Kent is a very walkable city. Downtown Kent is a little small but it is nice and cozy! There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat whether you want something on the cheap or more expensive side. Additionally, the river walking path is a must-to-do on a nice day! Kent became my home for 4 years and might be for a few more!
Really awesome place. Lots to do. Feel very safe. I wish places other than nightlife were open later, but the nightlife is great! Downtown Kent is super cute and fun! Kent is also not too far of a drive from anything in the Cleveland/Akron area.
Lived here for three years recently moved so I will jump into the nitty gritty, cost to rent here is too high for what you get, night life is terrible unless you are attending kent state uni. Traffic isnt bad but the crime and drugs seem to be worse off here then most. Don't even get me started on the officers the constant traffic stops when school is in gets old. And you may find yourself pulled over regularly for wellness checks but I think the worst part is how it is a 40min drive from practically anything not super run down so get use to driving route 76. Nicer areas wold include Cuyohuga, Hudson, Eastlake, Westlake and Streetsboro areas and cost about the same for rent.
