Kempner, TX itself is a quiet, if you blink you will miss it, town. We have only one stop light, but there are plans for a second. It sits between Lampasas and Copperas Cove, TX. Kempner is close to FT HOOD. It's an ideal place to live if you want to live away from base. We have a Dollar General, a Mexican mini restaurant, a gas station, and a German restaurant. There's a fun little boutique "Jessie Dallas Designs" too. Outside of that, you have to head to Lampasas or Copperas Cove for Wal-Mart or HEB. Kempner has a good commute time to Austin, sitting at just about 1 1/2 hours. Cedar Park is close too for shopping. Lampasas ISD pulls in the Kempner kids. It's not the BEST in TX, but it offers a safer alternative nearby cities. We do have a SMALL park in Kempner that has a SMALL walking trail. On the walkability score, Kempner probably rates 15 out of 100 itself. You have to drive a bit to find a better walking/hiking opportunity.
Country feel but still close to everything. Keeper city taxes, better water department and cheaper electric rates.
Kempner is small county municipality that is extremely down home residents. Most have farm land and raise livestock, as myself. We have strong values of true family hard work and enjoying a Saturday with friends and family. As for the younger children to older, unless they are in FFA or 4H, is there nothing for the kids to do except for the monthly town events held. But if you want a quite, safe, well protected by all to include local and county peace officers, Kempner is your town. I love it.
