Kapolei is a great town! There are nice neighborhoods and schools. Here on O'ahu, Kapolei is referred to by locals as our 2nd "town" or the 2nd Honolulu. In addition, there's the mall Ka Makana Ali'i and a few more shopping centers all within decent distance. I am a nearby resident and I go to Kapolei all the time whether it be to go to the mall or to go to eat out with family and friends. You can get almost anything you need in Kapolei.
The Kapolei area has been growing and developing over the last decade. I reside in Kapolei and love this area. Kapolei is a nice neighborhood which I frequently take my evening walks. There's lots of green trees and plants. I especially like that its also very convenient. We have numerous of shopping malls, theaters, eateries, shops galore, I can go on and on. The most recent mall is the Ka Makana Alii shopping mall. I live 5 minutes away from Ka Makana. I love it! I enjoy walking to the mall, walking around the mall, sitting and drinking a beverage or 2, then continue my walk home. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
Kapolei is called the next Waikiki! The schools in Kapolei are very good. High school sports are regularly visited by Mainland scouts for college sports scholarships. The community is large, and growing. It's family-friendly, and recently opened its own mall (2nd largest in all Hawaiian Islands). Businesses are growing, there are State of Hawaii Offices, State Judicial Courts and Offices, a lot of retail stores and restaurants to purchase groceries, furniture, gas, and the community has two theaters. The traffic commute to Honolulu takes a lot of time, but the State is working on a light rail system that will provide commuters opportunity to park and ride. Bus transportation is available, and there are two colleges in Kapolei. I love Kapolei, because the city has a lot of things to do, is strategically located near Kunia, Waipahu, Ko'Olina, and Waianai. It's not far from Pearl City, and there are a lot of beaches around to go to.
