Kaneohe, Kailua and Kahalu'u is located on the windward side of Oahu, where there isn't much development. Many consider the windward side as "God's Country". It is green and lush and view is breath taking. People are friendlier, there is a major shopping Mall, the first starbuck's drive through on the island, median homes are a bit expensive here but you have better established neighbors. Median is between $800,000 and $900,000 in Kaneohe. Kailua is a bit more expensive. Kailua Beach is always rated as one of the best beaches in the world.
It's a very residential locale. While the ocean is close and rather calm for kayaking or paddleboarding in the mornings, it is more rural and not close to downtown Honolulu.
