Overall, a pretty friendly city where everybody knows everybody. Within the past two decades or so, a lot of businesses have been closing around the area. However, more and more have been moving into the surrounding areas recently, putting Johnstown on an upswing. It's a great area with a really interesting history!

I am relatively new to the area but do not regret relocating here. The neighbors are friendly. Neighborhood is diverse, quiet and peaceful. An idea place to live for a single person and to raise a family. The city is laid back, all the amenities of the city life with out the hectic traffic, air pollution or crime. There is nothing like taking an early morning stroll inhaling fresh mountainous air and taking in the spectacular mountain views. The streets are lined with trees and liter free. The views from my windows in every room of the house are amazing. There is a reliable transportation system and most necessities are accessible within a short walking distance. I am living a stress free life. Johnstown is a place of tranquility.
I moved to Johnstown from Lancaster Pa in 2017 and so far it has been an amazing experience. I have met the most kind and generous people and have learned to slow down a little in life. I moved here due to cost of living compared to Lancaster and stress. I have seen Lancaster becoming a miserable busy city and knew I needed change. Johnstown has clean air, endless outdoor activities, great local and chain restaurants and shopping. I have a great well paying job and a beautiful home. This is the best decision I have made. Those that are miserable are looking for handouts and lazy. Crime in minimal and typically limited to the Govt subsidized housing units. If you work hard and take a look around you will figure out the good vs bad neighborhoods.
