Working in Jasper
This is a quiet and safe community. Could use more family oriented activities (movie theater, mini golf, or bowling). The biggest weakness is in professional health care options. Residents must leave out of town for care in most cases since the hospital system here is in such great need of repair and upgrade. However, with the lower cost of living, it is difficult to offer compensation to health care providers that will be willing to relocate. The same is true for education. We have some great locally grown teachers, but upper level math and science teacher positions are difficult to fill with experienced educators.
Jasper is a pretty average town. We have our ups and our downs just like the surrounding areas around us. We have a decent amount of restaurants like, The Belle Jim Hotel, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, The Chinese Buffet, Case Ole, Martins, and many other fine establishments. We also have a few good stores like, Wal-Mart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Brookshire Brothers, and a few other places. Traffic here really isn't that much of an issue here. It can get cluttered from time to time but for the most part traffic is usually pretty light. Even though we do live in an small town we do have some pretty good size houses. Overall, this is a pretty average community.
Jasper is a small town, with nice folks, and in a nice and safe environment. There’s not a lot of criminal activity, not very many places to eat, good commute time, not that many job opportunities, and the schools are average. Diversity is average nightlife is nice and quite, but just about everything is closed during that time.
