I like Janesville. It is close to shopping. Great midway point for commuting to other cities such as Madison, Rockford, and Chicago. Good schools and low crime. Many family friendly activities, great parks, and a fantastic library!

Janesville is a friendly family city with good schools. It's a safe place to raise a family. Currently, the city is working hard on revitalizing it's downtown in an effort to appeal to more white collar professionals. Great shops and a river walk are being implemented along with a festival square!
I moved to Janesville from Michigan 8.5 years ago. This is a wonderful place to raise a family. Neighbors are friendly, there is a strong sense of community, great schools, tons of wonderful parks (the Parks Dept is phenomenal for a city of this size). Janesville doesn't have much upscale retail or dining, but it has everything you need and you have Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago close by.
