I have lived in Jackson most of my life. What I like about Jackson is that it is slow paced and majority of my family members also still reside here. I love my children being able to see their grandfather anytime they can. What I would like to see change about Jackson is the fact that there are very little activities for the residents and their visitors. No big deal that the adults have little to do around the town, but the children don't have much to look forward to. I would also like to see my city come together for our children instead of killing or harming each other, leaving the children hurt or misguided to think this is okay.
I have lived in Jackson, TN the majority of my life. I have seen it grow from a town that people would miss if they blinked into a place they that stop every time they pass through. Jackson is known for its antique shops, southern style cooking and Rock-a-Billy music. Although, no place is completely safe, I believe the majority of the residents feel safe with our law enforcement protocols and neighborhood watches. Would I come to Jackson to "make it?" Probably not. But it is a place where you can live in an culturally rich environment, raise you children and most of all be happy.
Jackson is a character of a town. By many, it's considered a "ghetto" town or just a generally unsafe place to be. For me, it's given me many memories with my family and friends along side giving me a decent education when I took a few classes at Jackson State Community College. Along side a good education, a lot of my younger days were either spent in North Park or occasionally at the Family Fun Center. Though the smell of old popcorn or cold hotdogs filled the air at the Family Fun Center, it was a nice cliché experience to have when I was younger. We'd go bowling and take a swing at putt putt as it was one of the only fun things to do in town as a kid. It's a very neutral town for me, yet a neutral town that I'm happy to have known.
