Crime in this area is almost always drug-related. Meth, the most common drug out on the street as once reported by an officer at the police department, is a prevalent issue in this community and is the reason our economy is suffering. My school has held field trips for the dual-enrolled students to go visit the county's courthouse for a realistic experience of what courtroom proceedings are like and how a local government operates. I have attended two of these field trips, and each time, the docket has been filled with drug charges, and some inmates will testify for the usage of Marijuana and Methamphetamine. I could easily say that this area would be much better off without the drug problem, and the citizens would be more motivated to take up active positions in the betterment of our community.

I would choose to live here again if I had the choice to go back in time and choose for myself. If I had stayed in the area in North Carolina where I was, I would never have considered college or any career in particular. Thanks to moving in this area, I am in the top 15% of my graduating class, as well as graduating with 35 college credits that I was able to earn while in highschool, all because faculty saw potential and believed in me, despite my track record.
