The majority of its residents are students of either Santa Barbara City College or UCSB, but there is little-to-no rivalry. There is a "vibe" cast upon this town, leading to few disputes between residents. People are ready to help, especially if there are parties nearby. In my own experience, I took a drunk friend home one night, and I was lucky to be in IV because multiple people were perceptive and happy to help a fellow Samaritan get home safely. We were given water and even offered a Lift. Additionally, party culture here is not dangerous like it is in the San Fernando Valley. IV residents party to have a good time, not to settle any beef. IV is also sustainable and healthy with its local farmer's market just a bus ride away and pop-up shops where locals sell used clothes. The pricing of the property in IV is problematic, however, because the properties are overpriced for what they are. Most houses are not wellkept and many landlords do not respect the residents' security deposits
Great social environment with lots of entertainment opportunities, networking, and great food. Usually sketchy people are from out of town.
Too many drunken college students can sometimes ruin the fun. If people knew how to control their alcohol and stop being so rowdy then it would definitely be a 5 star review.
Great Community! If you are looking for a college town, Isla Vista is the place for you. Most people that live in Isla Vista are college kids from UCSB and SBCC. It is a great place to live if you are a student but I would not recommend for families. Stores are walking distance away and I couldn't be happier here.
Isla Vista is a lovely beach town for college students! Students of both University of California, Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College live here. Easy commute to both schools. Great weather! Sunny year round.
Isla Vista is a nice place for students to hang out, grab a bite, and study. The ocean is a couple walks away which is always a stunning view to look at. I think it would be nice if there were more parking spaces and restaurants.
Sometimes the partying gets out of hand but everyone is nice and there are a lot of opportunities. Rent is ridiculously high.
Love the community element, the location, the food, the close proximity to my undergrad campus. Dislike, the crime, the abusive landlord, and the cost of living.
Isla Vista is a community full of UCSB/SBCC college students. Depending on the rental property, houses/apartments in I.V have 1-10 residents, and can range from $500-$2000 per person. In the summer, I.V is relatively quiet due to students leaving for vacation. Throughout the school year, I.V is loud and populated. Residents are free to drink alcohol and listen to loud music any day of the week until midnight. Isla Vista is minutes away from UCSB and the beach.
Such a fun lively place to be. Next to multiple beaches, on the water, plenty of night life, decent food, and plenty of dogs!
This neighborhood is full of college students from either the University of California, Santa Barbara or Santa Barbara City College. People are mostly friendly and laid back but occasionally there are fights, especially on the weekends when the entire town turn into a party scene. Streets are clean, and parking is hard to find. Therefore, some residents here opt to park on the campus of UCSB. Crimes are not at all uncommon, occasionally there are crime reports on break-ins, rapes, and smashed car windows. Local law enforcement are generally responsive. Many Isla Vista businesses are also constantly hiring.
I love Isla Vista because it is such an open college community. Everywhere is supportive of the students because it is right next to the University campus.
God the Scenery has Changed. I liked how it changes drastix. Being from the MS state I value the Isla Vista Because I am their God In The is.
I like that Isla Vista is full of young good looking people for the most part. I wish that the houses were noise proof so people can party in peace.
Close to school, great social scene, right near the beach! It's near perfect, except neighbors can be hit or miss.
It's honestly just the people you're around and location that make it so great. The beach is only a couple blocks away or right out your window. I love it here, I just wish there were less homeless people and cops.
College town next to UCSB, lots of parties, right by the beach! No big businesses nearby, restaurants and food kind of pricey.
