I love the small town feel of Ironton, there's shopping in the area and a movie theater and a mall across the bridge to Ashland, KY which helps with having things to do when living in a small town. You'll love the southern hospitality you get from coming to this area as well- everyone is so polite! The only thing that is bad is the drug epidemic and its only getting worse in this area, and the surrounding areas as well. There are plenty of drug rehabilitation centers in the area so that helps a tremendous amount.

Ironton is a very small town. Most individuals have to travel for work that pays well. Schools systems are decent. The area is more of a quiet retirement area. Ironton has great nature views, but if you or your family like to do things you have to travel up to an hour or more.
Personally, Ironton always felt very home-like to me. It has a good amount of history to it, and the town has an amazing amount of character to it. There are some things I would like to see change, though. There is a large amount of criminal activity, as there is with basically anywhere in this day and age, although I would still love to see a decrease in the crime rate that resides there.
