They have an amazing ice arena that has incredibly flexible open-skate hours and good concessions. The local shops are also a plus. There are some "mom/pop" places and popular food chains. The town is growing and continually improving overall!
I like the safe, small town feel. Friendly, helpful people. Unfortunately shopping here is extremely limited. Unless you want to buy all of your clothes at Walmart online shopping is a necessity (no exaggeration). There is no form of public transportation which is fine, I guess, since nightlife consists of alcohol and more alcohol which greatly aids law enforcement in making lots of money for the county and state with DUIs. There is a saying here "Welcome to Dickinson County. Come on vacation, leave on probation". Alcoholism and drug abuse run rampant. Very little crime here, which is good because the police can't solve murders and can't locate missing people. If you love the great outdoors this is the place for you. Lots of opportunity for for water sports, hiking, winter outdoor sports, 4 wheeling, nature walking, etc. Very beautiful area with distinct 4 seasons.
We have lived in many different places in the United States. This area by far checks most of my boxes. It reminds me of a warmer Alaska where I spent 30 years of my life. A very safe community that has plenty to do for people that love the outdoors.
